What to Do After Flashing Your Tune from SleepyTuned (3.3T Edition)

When you flash a new tune on your Kia Stinger or Genesis 3.3T, it’s tempting to jump in and go for a rip. But hold up—what you do in the first 10 minutes after flashing matters just as much as the tune itself.

First Things First: Set the JB4 Map Correctly

This is critical. Running the wrong JB4 map after flashing can cause serious damage. Here's what you need to know:

  • Full ECU Tune Only (No Piggyback) — Set JB4 to Map 0
  • 91/93 Octane Tune (No WMI) — Use Map 1
  • E30 / WMI Blends — Use Map 2
  • Built Engine with WMI/CPI — Use Map 4

🚨 DO NOT skip this. Running the wrong JB4 map after flashing can cause serious engine damage. Always set it to the correct map based on your setup.

Disable JB4 Fuel and Wastegate Control

If your JB4 still has the Fuel Wires or EWG (Wastegate) wires installed, you need to either remove them or disable them in the app.

  • Open the JB4 App
  • Go to Options > Advanced > User Adjustment Settings
  • Find and enable the following:
    • Disable Fuel Control
    • Disable Wastegate (EWG) Control

Pro Tip: Physically uninstalling these wires is the best option. They offer no benefit when running a proper tune and can sometimes introduce issues. Remove them completely if you're only using JB4 for monitoring or map switching.

Reset ECU Adaptations

After a flash, the ECU still remembers learned trims, fuel adaptations, and behavior from the previous tune. To wipe that clean:

  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal
  2. Wait 30 seconds
  3. Reconnect

This ensures the ECU starts adapting fresh with the new calibration.

Prepare for Your First Log (Yes, Only One)

Now that your tune is flashed, the JB4 is set up correctly, and adaptations are reset, it's time to get us a log. But only one.

Logging Instructions:

  1. Open the JB4 app and go to Log Settings
  2. Turn off "Group Logs" – this setting makes logs harder to read
  3. Find a safe, legal place like a closed course or private road
  4. Do a single wide open throttle pull:
    • 2nd gear
    • Start at 4000 RPM
    • Shift at 6300 RPM
    • Stop at 6300 RPM in 3rd gear.

Then:

  • Email the CSV log file to: christian.tucker@outlook.com
  • Do not do additional WOT pulls until we review and confirm the car is safe

❗ Beating on the car without confirmation may result in unnecessary damage. We need to verify the tune is operating safely first.

What Happens Next

Once we review your log, we’ll reach out with feedback. From there, we may suggest minor tweaks, increasing the JB4 map, confirm that you’re good to go, or ask for another log depending on what we see.

Tuning is a process—and your engine deserves the care.
